Back by popular demand, join choral educators at all grade levels for a brush-up on singer’s diction, IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), and non-English texts! In addition to learning how to pronounce lyrics in other languages such as Latin, German, French, and Hebrew, we’ll also explore authentic pedagogy and performance practices to help singers and audience members connect with music on a deeper level. We’ll sing, conduct, teach, and, as always, learn from one another during this valuable week of practical skill-building, networking, and music-making.
Participants have the option to register for a 2-day, 1 credit course, or this extended 4-day, 2 credit course. All participants will receive a reading packet and useful teaching tools. Those choosing the extended course will gain a more in-depth exploration of musical traditions from non-western cultures and ways to honor those traditions in our practice and pedagogy through active learning, conducting, and teaching.
Instructed by Dr. Jami Lercher, Associate Professor of Choral Music Education, Baldwin Wallace University.
