Upright and Electric Bass Instructor
Originally from Buffalo NY, Chris Vance is an active electric and double bassist both regionally and nationally in classical, jazz, rock, and world music. Chris has recently performed with Wayne Newton, Warren Haynes (The Allman Brothers), The Barricade Boys, David Clark: All About Joel, Il Volo, The Oblivion Project, Nicole Henry, Sam Morrison (Miles ‘On The Corner’), Abdou M’boup (Paul Simon, Jean Luc-Ponty), Mike Clark w/Jeff Berlin, and Bobby Rydell (‘Volare’).
Mr. Vance is a regular performer at Playhouse Square, recently performing on many touring shows – within the past year: & Juliet, Parade, Some Like it Hot, and Back To The Future. He has led groups that opened for Joey DeFrancesco, Ray Brown, and Harry Connick Jr. and toured Europe with Kassaba in 2007. In the classical realm, he has been the featured soloist on some of the most demanding classical repertoire and has served as Principal Bass of the Bermuda Philharmonic as well as the Buffalo Opera Company Orchestra.
Mr. Vance holds a Master of Music in Double Bass Performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music, a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory – S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo.
